Step 2:
Providing your baby with relief of symptoms
The best remedy: Avoid consuming dairy and soy proteins
The great news is most babies outgrow milk allergies by 18 months. Until then,
the best way to treat a milk allergy is to remove all milk proteins from your baby’s
diet.
For breast-fed infants:
Moms must remove dairy and soy protein from their diets. Avoiding dairy and
soy proteins is challenging as they are found in many foods. Milk proteins
called casein or whey, find their way into many products, so check labels carefully.
The following is a list of foods that may contain dairy or soy protein:
- All dairy and soy products
- Meat/processed meats
- Whey or Casein on the label
- Nutrition bars
- Glazes
- Lactose-free products
|
- Chocolate
- Fortified cereals
- Non-broth (cream) soup
- Cheese/Yogurt
- Salad dressing
|
For formula-fed infants:
Replacing whole chain proteins with amino acid-based formulas is best.
Protein sources in infant formulas
 |
- All basic formulas (dairy and soy) are made of complete protein
chains that trigger allergic reactions (e.g. Enfamil Lipil, Similac)
- Hydrolyzed formulas break the protein into pieces. This is
tolerated by many, but can still trigger an allergic reaction (e.g. Nutramigen Lipil,
Alimentum)
- Amino acid-based formulas are made from individual non-allergenic
amino acids. These proteins are broken down to their simplest and purest form,
making it easier for the body to process and digest (e.g. Neocate Infant with DHA
and ARA)
|
Imagine your baby’s symptoms clearing up in as little as 3-days
Neocate can accelerate relief from milk allergy
Neocate is hypoallergenic and based on 100% free amino
acids leaving no protein links to trigger an allergic reaction.
Neocate is nutritionally complete and the only amino acid-based formula
specifically developed for the unique needs of infants 0 to 12 months.
Only Neocate Infant has been proven to provide:
- Rapid relief of milk allergy gastrointestinal symptoms such as vomiting
and diarrhea in 3-days
- Relief of all symptoms including skin rash in 14-days
- Better growth than hydrolysates among cow milk allergic infants
